Pontiac GTO increasingly hunted collectors

Pontiac GTO was released in 1964 and is now credited by many as the most powerful revolutionary muscle car for the past 50 years. Of course this is not a new thing for the Americans about the V8 engine because Ford has released this V8 engine since 1932.

The history of pontiac gto development

The idea to install a machine with a large specification V8 on a 2-door Pontiac car was actually spearheaded by Bill Collins, Russ Gee and John DeLorean, who later created and launched a ford car with the name of one of the 3 people namely DeLorean DMC-12.

And at the same time a man named Lee Lacocca also has the same concept, and finally released Mustang car in 1964. First GTO car is actually smaller than Pontiac tempest, the price was then $ 295 with features 6.0 liter V8 389cc engine, dual exhausts, a Carter AFB 4-barrel carburettor, chromed valve covers, a 3-speed manual rigid elastic gearbox suspension, larger anti-roll bar, twin hood scoops, wider wheels, and GTO logo.

John DeLorean chose the same name GTO used by Ferrari, which stands for Gran Turismo Omologato (Holomogasi Grand Tourer), the Ferrari GTO was built from 1962 to 1964 and is now known as a very valuable collection car.

For the Pontiac GTO model released in 1965 features a double headlight, a longer body, the same wheelbase as, for Pontiac GTO model of 1964, Brakes, steering and handling problems from the original car Pontiac Tempest GTO received criticism from the media crew, so for the 1965 modem brake lining increased by 15% and anti-roll bar made stronger. Steering wheel is positioned on the left with 4 turns lock-to-lock ratio of 17.5: 1, with improved car brake ability still less grip to stop the car with power of 335 + HP.
In 1965 the Free-standing GTO was first introduced. Is collected by many collectors, especially the output of 1966, annual sales of this car almost as many as 100,000 units. The existing Pontiac GTO car specs is fitted with a 389cc V8 engine coupled with Original Muncie 4-speed transmission with a hurst shifter. Using 3 Rochester 2-barrel carburettor and has a power of 360HP factory output.

Power steering and power brake combined with power antenna, car seat bucket model, the glass has been given the film, Montero Red body color and already in coating and combined with the color of black interior. Reportedly the car was auctioned on March 24 2017 at Mecum auction located in the city of Kansas.
